Reflecting on 2016
The best memories, the funniest poo stories and my saddest shoot ever
In January I made the decision to become a full time photographer and resigned from the security of a regular wage. Thank you to my family and friends who continue to support and encourage me everyday. This year I’ve been fortunate to met the most gorgeous babies, amazing parents and lovable siblings. I’ve laughed so loud and lost count of the best mishap stories. All those funny photos on the internet with newborns and little surprises are real and an everyday event in the studio. I can honestly say I LOVE my job and wouldn’t dream of doing anything else. Along with all the happy photo shoots this year I received an unexpected phone call. The phone call introduced me into a new experience as I stepped out of my comfort zone for a grieving family. Without sharing delicate information I would like to express my deep admiration to the parents of baby Shay. I’d like to also congratulate the volunteers from The Heartfelt Foundation. Amazing people who create special and unique memories for everyday people and are beautiful giving photographers. The experience of creating memories for a loving family in their sadness moments was something I’ll never forget and has given me an even greater appreciation for photography and story telling.
As I look towards 2017 filled with enthusiasm my head is swimming with new plans and ideas for a bigger and better year. I’m so looking forward to another year of newborns, babies and pregnant bellies. As a member of The Australian Institute of Professional Photography I look forward to ongoing education and personal development. I’m fortunate to share my journey with amazing and talented photographers. I am absolutely 100% grateful they share their expertise, knowledge and friendship.
