Mental health week

Mental health week is almost here, in fact only days away! Saturday the 8th of October until the 16th of October promotes the importance of mental health and wellbeing, to reduce associated stigma and celebrate our amazing health care workers and their achievements. So how does this relate to a newborn photographer? After almost 10 years in the industry I’ve had the utmost privilege to photograph some of the bravest people and I’ve listened to some heart wrenching stories of courage and overcoming fear. This week I want to celebrate all the strong women and men who have overcome adversity on the journey to parenthood and to send love to those who still struggle.

Simple things to help you feel better

  • Share how you’re feeling with someone, it helps to talk
  • Stay active, go for a walk in the fresh air along the beach or somewhere scenic
  • Exercise releases endorphins which trigger a positive feeling in the body
  • Eat well, good nutrition really does make a difference
  • Plan things to look forward to
  • Getting good quality sleep helps our bodies and mind to cope with life
  • Be kind to yourself
are you okay

Avents for mental health week

Did you know Queensland Health have avents throughout Brisbane all week. They have something for everyone in person or online. Great education, community activities and family fun, there’s even poetry in the park.

mental health awareness

Sending my thoughts today and everyday

If you have a story to share my studio is a safe place without judgement and I listen with an open mind and kind heart. I may not be able to relieve you of your heartache but talking and opening up certainly helps to start moving forward and assists in the healing process. Confidentially is respected, I can’t promise I won’t cry with you but I can promise to be a caring listener if you need it.
